Shamim Hossain in NPL, set to join Lumbini Lions for NPL Season 3

Defending champions Lumbini Lions have added extra firepower to their title defence. Bangladesh international all-rounder Shamim Hossain Patwary is set to represent the Lions in the third season of the Nepal Premier League.

The left-handed batter is known for his explosive hitting in the middle and lower order, with the ability to turn a game around in just a few overs. That makes him a valuable finisher for a Lumbini side that thrived on late surges during last year’s title run.

Two skills in one

Shamim’s right-arm off-spin gives the Lions another useful option with the ball, adding depth and flexibility to the squad. His all-round quality could prove especially handy on the Kirtipur surface, where spin often plays a key role.

Champions gearing up

Shamim joins a Lumbini squad led by Nepal captain Rohit Paudel and coached once again by Tinu Yohannan, the duo that guided the franchise to its first NPL title last season.

The Lions kick off their title defence in the season opener against Sudurpaschim Royals on October 26 at TU International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, a rematch of last year’s final.
